One day We drove 30 miles to Niland, California and visited Slab
City. It was quite an experience. Unfortunately, the pictures didn't come
out so great but I didn't feel like returning again. so what you see is what
you get.
First there is welcoming artwork by a dedicated long term resident just
outside of Slab City. He has painted a hill with his favorite decorations.
It is my understanding that his work has received International notice and
critical acclaim.
From the painted hill you can walk to Slab City, an old Army Post, now
under BLM where people are allowed to "camp" or "Squat" for
$125 per the season.
